When it comes to choosing who to employ as your contractor to install a new driveway or patio, there are a lot of questions you need to ask yourself. You are not only employing them but ultimately you are trusting them with your money and your property.
Being in an industry with a lot of ‘rogue traders’, you really must take care when making this big decision. At Complete Driveway Designs, we pride ourselves on standing apart from the rest of the industry; see below 8 reasons to choose us as your contractor and what to look out for with other contractors:
Showroom and Office
Our showroom and offices are based in Ramsbottom, Bury. In our showroom, you’ll find a wide range of colours and patterns to see for yourself. Our showroom and office are open from 8.30am- 5pm and we offer a walk in policy between these hours – you only need to book an appointment outside of these times. One of our specialists is on site at all times, so we can answer any questions and arrange a site survey if necessary.
Site Survey and Written Quotation
When it comes to getting a price for the work, a lot of companies with find a scrap of paper to scribble down the price or just give you a call with some numbers. In some cases, this can be absolutely fine – but remember there is no ‘small print’ as to what this actually includes.
You could end up in a complete mess when things go wrong or spend a lot more than the original price!
We offer a full written 5 page quotation which gives the full description of works to be carried out, along with the price and payment plan should you chose to go ahead with the works.
A guarantee can often be your saving grace with some companies; the trouble is, the guarantee you usually end up needing isn’t one that’s actually offered. Either that, or there are too many loopholes!
At Complete Driveway Designs, we offer a 5-year insurance backed guarantee AND workmanship guarantee. This basically means you are covered for any major repairs that need doing should we no longer be in business. It’s covered by a third-party guarantee and you will personally receive all documents.
We take pride in each and every job we do, which is why our customer is always our number one priority. Not only do we want to be satisfied with the finished installation, we want our customers to be as well.
We will never hold back in showing samples of our work, whether it’s pictures on our site or taking you to see a driveway in your area. We’ve been named as finalists for the Customer Excellence award at The Made in Bury Awards!
All of our vans and sales cars are branded with our name and logo, so you always know who is turning up to your door to carry out a site survey or to start an installation.
Each employee will also wear a Complete Driveway Designs uniform (jumpers, t-shirts, hats). This gives you that extra faith in us as a company. When branding is a huge part of the company it really does show that nothing will be left untoward and that we as members of staff also have a reputation to uphold.
Planning permission is generally not required for a front driveway if it is less than 5m2 in size. Permission is also not needed for driveways where the water flows away to drain naturally, so if you are using permeable materials such as gravel, block paving or porous asphalt you are not required to seek planning permission.
For pattern imprinted concrete which is non-permeable, there is an easy solution. We design a drainage system to suit your project which will disperse any rainwater, so planning permission is not needed here either!
For patios, gable end areas or paths, no planning permission is required as long as there is no significant embanking or terracing to build a hard surface.
Decking does not need planning permission as long as it is not raised more than 300mm and the decking – together with any extensions or outhouses – do not cover more than 50% of the garden area.
A lot of companies in this industry will use sub-contractors and by doing this, it is easier to run away from mistakes made. By using sub- contractors, a company doesn’t necessary hold responsibility for each team, and they don’t necessarily have any sort of insurance to cover them.
You can be assured that all of our installation teams and employees work for us as a company; they are all highly skilled.
One of the main places where we get a lot of our enquires is from referrals by previous customers, or by reviews people have seen online. We’re extremely proud of all our 5 star reviews, as we believe the speak for themselves as to the type of work we do.
